High Powered Pneumatic Motors 1.6 to 18kW
1.6kW to 18kW Air Powered Vane MotorsHigh Powered Pneumatic Motors.
This range consists of several motors upto 18kW with numerous gearbox configurations.
Loaded speeds of 18rpm up to 4500rpm, and start torques of upto 2,600Nm are possible.
This range includes ATEX approved motors powers of 1.6, 3.2, 5.0 and 6.0kW, with or without gearboxes and loaded speeds of 3000, 1500rpm or 700rpm. In many cases this allows a simple and direct swap with an electric motor.
In most motor sizes we can supply motors with planetary, worm or spur gearboxes or without gearing.

Low Speed, High Torque Air Motors
They are available in 3 power ranges, all have stainless steel housings, are ATEX approved and are fully sealed.
Power Nominal Torque Start Torque Loaded Speed Catalogue
285W 32 to 410Nm 47 to 615Nm 7 to 85rpm High Torque Motor Size 3
570W 72 to 265Nm 108 to 400Nm 20 to 75rpm High Torque Motor Size 6
860W 110 to 400Nm 160 to 600Nm 20 to 75rpm High Torque Motor Size 7

Air Operated Brake Motors
The brake is integrated in the housing between the air motor and the gearbox, or behind the air motor. Air brake motors are useful for holding loads or stopping loads (in non hazardous areas), for example in cable reels, trolleys or other applications where the load may need to be held in position.
Deprag manufacture the world's first ATEX approved holding brake motors. They are 200, 300, 600, 900 & 1600W and come in a range of speeds. They feature a control valve that insures that the brake cannot be partially applied if there is a drop in air pressure.

Pneumatic Drill & Grinder Spindles
So, Deprag offer some motors made especially for these applications.
Drills are available in the power of 80W, 170W, 250W, 400W and 600W, with drilling capacity in steel of upto 13mm, max speeds of upto 24,000rpm. Most of these motors are available with a collet holder or a drill chuck.
Milling and grinding motors are now available in 150W, 250W, 300W, 400W, 700W and 1,000W with speeds from 15,300rpm up to 47,000rpm.

ATEX Approved Pneumatic Motors
Hazardous Environment Approvals.
We all know a risk assessment should be done on any piece of equipment going into a workplace; however we see people automatically assuming that all air motors are safe. When certain gases are present, equipment that generates over 90OC surface temperature are not acceptable.
If the work place is likely to have an explosive atmosphere due to dust or gases, the use of ATEX approved air motors will give the risk assessor a higher level of confidence about the motor. The ATEX approval is a European standard for equipment that is used in explosive atmospheres. An approved motor will have a code on it that shows what environment it is suited to (eg mining or industrial), what form of hazardous materials it is safe for (eg gas or dust) as well as the rated surface temperature of the motor.
To use the approval, the motor manufacturer has to supply motors and operating instructions to an independent testing facility. The motors are then tested and rated according to their maximum surface temperature. Information about recommended maintenance intervals and surface temperature testing must also be included in the operating instructions.
Most of Deprag’s Advanced Line, all of the Basic Line and some of the POWER LINE series of pneumatic motors are ATEX approved.
